Glove guide and donning process
1. Choosing the right protective gloves
Assess the risk: Identify the specific risks present in the workplace, e.g. cutting, welding, impact protection, etc.
Choose material: Select glove material based on the type of risk.
Proper size: Gloves should fit snugly but not tightly to ensure that blood circulation is not impeded and to avoid slipping off due to excessively loose gloves.
2. Pre-use inspection
Check for integrity: Check gloves for tears, rips or perforations. For chemical protective gloves, the inflation method can be used to check the seal.
Confirm expiration date: Ensure that the gloves have not expired, as expired gloves may not provide adequate protection.
3. Wear them correctly
Clean Hands: Clean hands before wearing gloves to minimize the risk of contamination.
Double layer of protection: If necessary, wear a layer of cotton gloves underneath the protective gloves for added comfort and safety.
Adjust the cuff: Ensure that the cuff of the glove covers the sleeve of the garment to prevent liquids or dust from entering.
4. Precautions in use
Avoid cross-contamination: Change gloves when in different areas or handling different items.
Avoid overstretching: Overstretching reduces the protection and life of the glove.
Observe the range of use: Do not use gloves beyond their designed protective capacity.
5. Removal and Disposal
Careful removal: Roll the glove up slowly from the wrist to avoid contacting the skin with contaminants.
Proper Disposal: Place used gloves in designated waste containers to avoid re-contact or contamination of others.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Timely Cleaning: Wash with appropriate cleaning agents according to glove material and manufacturer's instructions.
Drying and Storage: Air dry naturally, avoid direct sunlight or high temperatures, then store in a dry, cool place.
7. Regular Training
Employee Education: Regularly train employees on the use and maintenance of protective gloves to ensure that everyone understands the proper use process.
